OWENSBORO, KY (WFIE) - Kentucky Wesleyan added a new program to its extensive list of division 2 sports.
It's year one for the Panther wrestling program at KWC, and the team has already hit the ground running on laying the foundation for a rich tradition to grow.
Headed by veteran head coach Chris Freije, the team is comprised of 12 freshmen, two sophomores, and three juniors all competing against the top talent in the midwest.
The season started back at the beginning of November and will run until early February before the post-season begins later that month.
While the Panthers may be in just year one of the program, the team has high expectations for what's to come.
The Panthers will put their skills to the test this weekend, as KWC will compete in one of their toughest meets of the season as they head to Indianapolis for the Midwest Classic.
