EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - Two Evansville parents are facing neglect charges.
Richard and Caryn Soliday were both booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail late Monday night.
Police say one of the children called 911 to say their parents are drunk and mom was “gushing blood.”
Officers say when they arrived to the home on North Red Bank Road, no one would answer the door at first.
They say they could see Richard Soliday through the window lying on a bed. When they knocked again, they say Richard waved his arms and legs like he was trying to get up, but was unsuccessful.
Eventually, police say one of the children opened the door.
Just inside the door, police say there was a pool of blood, and a highly intoxicated man named Stanley Stocker lying next to it.
Police say Caryn Soliday was in the living room with blood on her face.
Officers then put all three adults in custody, then went upstairs to speak with five children.
The children said their parents were drinking and arguing, which happens often.
Police say Caryn told them they drink daily and smoke marijuana about three times a week. She said Stocker rents a room in their attic.
Officers say Caryn told them that during their argument, she pushed Richard and began slamming her head into the door. She says that is what caused the pool of blood.
Police say there was only one working toilet out of the three in the home, and there was cat feces in bath tub where the children take showers.
The children were released to their grandparents.
Stocker was charged on a failure to appear warrant and resisting law enforcement.
Caryn Soliday was also charged with battery. She has been released.
