EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A court appearance for the man accused of killing a Maryland woman and dumping her body in Evansville.

Neil Heiss, 30, is in the Henderson County Jail under 10 charges including murder.

On Tuesday, Neil Heiss pleaded not guilty to killing Monika Roberts. Police say blood found inside a Sugar Creek Inn motel room led them to Heiss in late September.

An autopsy confirmed Roberts was murdered, with a bullet into her head. Police say Heiss and Roberts had been traveling together and split time between motels in Henderson and a home in Evansville.

Police found her body in a trash can just yards from that home 10 days later. They say Heiss also told witnesses he had killed Roberts.

Heiss will be represented by a court appointed attorney. His trial is set for February.

Heiss will stay in the Henderson County Jail under a $250,000 full cash bond and will be drug tested weekly.
