Victoria National named new home for Web.com Tour Championship

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) - For the next decade, Victoria National is set to host the final event for the yearly Web.com Tour Finals.

On Monday, United Leasing & Finance CEO Ron Romain announced a 10-year deal, between the PGA Tour, Dormie Network, and the Golf Gives Back Governing Board, to make Victoria National the new home of the Web.com Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance. The Web.com Tour Championship, which is the final event of the tour’s finals, will be played August 30 through September 2.

The final round, which will be played on Labor Day Monday, is the only live event of the day on the Golf Channel.

Dan Glod, Web.com Tour President, said in a statement this is a tremendous chance for golf fans in the area to see the next great wave of talent for the PGA Tour. Glod went on to say the course at Victoria National is arguably the most demanding course on the Web.com Tour.

“With Victoria National, we have arguably the most demanding golf course on the the Web.com Tour; having played as one of the three most difficult courses in each of the last six years,” explains Glod.

PGA Tour member Chase Wright backed-up Glod’s remarks, on the challenges Victoria National presents to golfers.

“Victoria National is without doubt the most demanding venue on the Web.com Tour,” Wright claims. “The final three holes will deliver unparalleled drama for the Web.com Tour Championship.”

The tournament will feature a $1 million purse.

According to Romain, since the tournament was brought to the area in 2012, more than $1.6 million has been contributed to over 44 charity organizations.

Web.com Tour President Glod says their hope is to expand on the tour’s excellent history in the Evansville community.

“With strong local leadership through Golf Gives Back, numerous volunteers and TOUR Vision Promotions as our operator, we are confident the Web.com Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance will continue to have an increased impact on fans, the community and charity,” Glod explains.

With a lot on the line for the players, the “unparalleled drama,” as Wright says, is sure to live up to the hype and entertain fans from start to finish.
