BOONVILLE, IN (WFIE) - A new mural near the Boonville square is sharing a unique look at the town’s history.
People that plan on coming to Johnson Park near the Boonville Square will notice a different backdrop within the next few days.
Just behind the Park, a mural is coming to life. It is a walk back in time depicting many of the storefronts on the square that were open in the early 1900′s. The idea is to make the mural look as if you are window shopping as you walk by in the park.
Michael Smith of Orange Moon Art Studio has been working on the mural since the end of August. He says that his work is much bigger than himself, and it is fulfilling for him to know that many generations of people will be able to view his work.
“It beautifies the town. Ultimately, beautification is contagious just as decay is contagious. So I think the more things that we do like this in town, the more people they will have walking the square and the more revenue they’ll have in the town itself," said Smith.
The mural is set to be completed sometime within the next week.
